Intrigued by the Clifford Irving story about his counterfeiting of the Howard Hughes autobiography, as recently outlined in The Hoax? Well, so was Orson Welles, who uses the incident and Irving's earlier book about the art forger Elmyr de Hory as the centerpiece of this documentary about fakery and fraud, which was to be Welles' final feature film. F for Fake also suggests many interesting parallels to Welles' career, which, of course, kicked off with that fake radio broadcast of War of the World.
